Ocean Village Resorts has a deep understanding that its business relies on the health of the environment and strives to make choices that will have the least impact. In doing this, they have implemented the following sustainable initiatives:

Eco-friendly Products

• Replacing hand soap, body wash and soaps with Sea Wench Naturals products (an organic, all natural line of products made just off the coast of Tofino)
• Introducing sustainable coffee from Oughtred Coffee which is certified by the Rainforest Alliance

Eco-friendly Sourcing

• Changing purchasing behaviours to source local products
• Hiring local contractors for renovations

Waste Reduction

• Replacing current soap products with products in dispensers, eliminating the use of approximately 15,000 pieces of packaging per year

Energy and Water Conservation

• Installing specialized vacuum assist showerheads and faucet aerators that use 40% less energy and water
• Re-calibrating the laundry system to deliver significant energy savings
• Changing the current propane heater for the pool & Jacuzzi to a high efficiency heat exchanger reducing energy consumption by up to 60%
• Switching to high efficiency exterior lights with photocells that automatically turn the lights off when not needed

Green Building

• Installing new Smart Glass windows in the pool
• Used fast growing birch plywood for the swimming pool change room renovations
• Installing CRI Green Label Plus certified carpets (for low off-gassing of chemicals) as a part of the staff accommodation renovations

Community Involvement

• Opening the indoor pool to local residents for kids’ swimming lessons, other classes and public swim times
• Donating time and money to local community events and charities like like Surfrider and the Rainforest Education Society
• Continuing to support the clean up of our beaches
