There is nothing like a little fruit salsa to take the edge off your summer snack cravings. When I was in the deep south, I was introduced to an amazing peach salsa recipe. It’s the perfect combo of a summer fruit and veggie coming together. This salsa is not only a yummy treat but offers useful sun protection. Canadian Living lists tomatoes in their top 10 best foods for beautiful, healthy skin. The active ingredient that makes tomatoes so special is lycopene. This ingredient is a carotene that has the ability to block UV light. Lycopene is no substitute for sunscreen but ingesting it will add a little boost of protection. In order to be most effective, tomatoes must be cooked.

To put this sun-protecting salsa into action check out the recipe below.

Sunshine, cocktails and pizza on the barbie—summer has finally arrived on the west coast! With a new barbecue on the balcony, we have been pumped to make almost everything on it. Our latest creation has been a delicious BBQ pizza paired with a yummy peach salsa. Below you will learn how to create your own homemade BBQ pizza.

We put so much care into making sure our meals are healthy, so why not do the same for our fur babies? After visiting the Calgary Pet Expo this past spring, I was inspired to try a homemade dog treat recipe. Like humans, some dogs have special dietary needs. Some pups have food allergies, sensitive stomachs or dental issues which can be disturbed when you feed them the wrong treats. Presence of a food allergy  can be seen through chronic ear inflammation, constant foot biting or licking, or gastrointestinal problems.

Every time my dog would eat beef, he would moan and moan with upset bowels for the next 48 hours. I am not a vet and not sure if he is allergic, intolerant or just too daft to know when enough is enough, but for his comfort, I found it’s best to limit his beef intake. The beauty of homemade treats is that you are completely aware of your dog’s snacks, although homemade goodies may not deter some from sneaking a couple garbage bites. Certain dogs will take to homemade treats right away but fussier eaters may not.  For DIY dog treats, I like to use the recipe below because it is beef-free.
